New Suit - Consumer

Starbucks was hit with a consumer lawsuit on Jan. 10 in District of Columbia Superior Court. The court action, brought by James & Hoffman on behalf of National Consumers League, contends that Starbucks misleads customers by stating that the company is 'committed to 100% ethical coffee sourcing' when they source coffee beans and tea leaves from cooperatives and farms that have committed documented human rights and labor abuses, including child and forced labor and sexual harassment and assault. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 2024-CAB-000196, National Consumers League v. Starbucks Corporation.
