Marsh USA was hit with a complaint for declaratory judgement on March 20 in California Superior Court for San Francisco County. The lawsuit, which arises from the enforcement of non-competition provisions, was filed by Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan on behalf of Manpreet Gill, a former Marsh consultant who worked for the brokerage over the past 20 years. The suit seeks to declare that Marsh's non-solicitation and non-compete agreements are void, unenforceable and unlawful. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant.
