The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was hit with a defamation lawsuit Tuesday in District of Columbia District Court. The court action was filed by Boies Schiller Flexner on behalf of WE Charity. The complaint centers on Nov. 2021 news coverage from the CBC that claimed WE Charity defrauded donors and misappropriated funds intended for schools in Kenya. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:22-cv-00340, We Charity v. Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
