In 2019, Leslie D. Corwin sued Tom Girardi and his firm, Girardi Keese, on behalf of a litigation lender that was owed repayment on a $12 million loan. What followed was a lengthy fight with Girardi, who insisted the loan was for his clients, not him, then called Corwin's eventual attempts to attach his personal assets, including his mansion in Pasadena, California, "fraudulent, slanderous and an abuse of the legal process." At one point, Girardi threatened to sue Corwin's client, Law Finance Group, which he called a "miserable, rotten, despicable company."
