Fox Sports was hit with a trademark infringement suit Monday in California Central District Court over the network's plans to launch a ‘United States Football League' in April 2022. The complaint, backed by McKool Smith and The Lanier Law Firm, pursues claims on behalf of the Real USFL, which accuses Fox of creating an 'unabashed counterfeit' of the football league of the same name which existed for a limited time in the 1980s. The suit contends that Fox has misappropriated the original league's name and logo as well as original team names including the New Jersey Generals, the Philadelphia Stars and the Houston Gamblers. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:22-cv-01350, The Real USFL, LLC v. Fox Sports Inc et al.
