Homelessness in the U.S. hit an all-time high in 2023, according to a report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. An end to pandemic protections, rising housing costs, high rents and the migrant crisis contributed to the record 653,100 homeless people, the report said, with the existing housing stock increasingly at risk of damage from severe hazards.
