A streak of five plaintiffs' awards totaling more than $2 billion ended this month after a jury in California's San Benito County Superior Court sided with Bayer's Monsanto in the latest Roundup trial. The Dec. 22 defense verdict is the tenth win for the agrochemical giant, which won nine in a row after courts reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns. The trial, which began earlier this month, involved plaintiff Bruce Jones, 72, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2021 after decades of exposure to Roundup on his ranch and commercial properties. Jessica Grant and Mat Larsen, partners at Shook Hardy & Bacon in San Francisco and Kansas City, Missouri, represented Monsanto. Another Roundup trial begins jury selection on Jan. 4 in Philadelphia.
