Mercedes-Benz Group, the German carmaker, was slapped with a consumer class action on May 7 in Georgia Northern District Court. The suit, brought by the Heber Law Firm and Capstone Law, contends that Mercedes knowingly marketed and sold 2021-present S580 Sedan vehicles with defective wheel configuration systems that cause sudden and repeated tire blowouts, tire punctures, sidewall bubbling, tire deflation and cracked rims. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:24-cv-01989, Chappell v. Mercedes-benz USA, LLC.
