Hot Topic, a pop culture merchandise retailer, was slapped with a patent infringement lawsuit on April 22 in Texas Eastern District Court. The complaint, brought by Parker, Bunt & Ainsworth on behalf of Massachusetts Institute of Technology start-up S3G Technology LLC, contends that the Hot Topic mobile application infringes upon three of the plaintiff's patents. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 5:24-cv-00056, S3g Technology LLC v. Hot Topic, Inc.
