New Suit - Consumer Class Action

Philip Morris International and Swedish Match North America were slapped with a consumer class action on March 29 in California Eastern District Court in connection with the marketing and sale of the defendants' Zyn brand oral nicotine pouches. The suit, filed by Bursor & Fisher, contends that the defendants marketed the product as a 'nicotine-cessation device' despite knowing that it contains no health benefits, is not a proven or authorized cessation device and leads to nicotine addiction for new users. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:24-cv-00987, Doe v. Phillip Morris International Inc.
