Leonia Board of Education and other defendants were named in an insurance coverage lawsuit on March 26 in New Jersey District Court. The suit, brought by Goldberg Segalla on behalf of Employers Insurance Co. of Wausau, seeks a declaration that the plaintiff has no duty to defend or indemnify the defendants in an underlying lawsuit by a former student who was allegedly abused in 1980. According to the complaint, the policy period began in April 1980, and the victim testified in the underlying lawsuit that the abuse ended in the winter of the 1979-1980 school year.
