The State of Montana and Cooper & Kirk filed a lawsuit on Feb. 9 in California Northern District Court accusing Meta Platforms, Facebook and Instagram of exposing minors to pornography and drug use, and unlawfully collecting minors' personal data. The suit contends that the social media giants fail to block significant amounts of illicit and adult-themed content from being seen by children online. The suit also alleges that the defendants' collection of data gives them full knowledge that minors are consuming such content without parental consent. The case is 4:24-cv-00805, State of Montana v. Meta Platforms, Inc.
