The Commodity Futures Trading Commission filed a lawsuit on Jan. 17 in Arizona District Court accusing Debiex of misappropriating $2.3 million in connection with the sale of cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency futures. The suit contends that certain company employees conspired to target Chinese Americans over social media in order to induce them to open trading accounts which were fraudulent. The suit further alleges that the scheme enlisted the help of 'money mules' such as relief defendant Zhāng Chéng Yáng. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:24-cv-00117, Commodity Futures Trading Commission v. Debiex.
