New Suit - Antitrust Class Action

Apple was hit with an antitrust class action on Nov. 17 in California Northern District Court alleging that the tech giant improperly limits competition among providers of peer-to-peer payment products. The suit, filed by Bathaee Dunne LLP, claims that Apple uses its control over apps run on iPhones and iPads to extract agreements from competitors, including PayPal's Venmo, and to impede new services. The suit contends that Apple has specifically barred the incorporation of crypto-based payment technology in iOS apps and that its actions have had the effect of boosting its Apple Cash product. Counsel have not yet entered an appearance for Apple. The case is 5:23-cv-05981, Pierre et al v. Apple Inc.
