Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals, which sells Mucinex cold and flu products, was hit with a consumer class action on Sept. 19 in Illinois Northern District Court. The suit, brought by Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman, Pearson Warshaw and Kopelowitz Ostrow, is part of a wave of cases alleging that phenylephrine, the active ingredient in many cold and flu medications, is ineffective for treating nasal congestion. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:23-cv-13879, Riccio v. Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals Inc.
