Apple was hit with a false advertising class action on Aug. 25 in California Northern District Court. The suit, filed by the Katriel Law Firm and the Kalfayan Law Firm, arises from Apple's free offer of 5GB of cloud storage to all Apple device users, which can be upgraded to 50, 200 or 2,000 GB with an iCloud Plus subscription. According to the complaint, Apple falsely advertised that extra storage through iCloud Plus would be in 'addition' to the 5GB of free cloud storage, when in fact the free 5GB is eliminated after users sign up for iCloud Plus. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 5:23-cv-04409, Bodenburg v. Apple Inc.
