A seller of recycled ink cartridges sued Amazon.com for $500 million on Aug. 14 in California Central District Court. The suit, filed by TroyGould on behalf of Planet Green Cartridges, claims that Amazon facilitates the sale of China-made ink cartridges that are falsely listed as recycled products in violation of the Lanham Act and state consumer protection laws. According to the suit, the plaintiff presented Amazon with evidence regarding the sellers' false advertising and bogus environmental claims but Amazon has not put an end to the allegedly deceptive practices. Counsel have not yet appeared for the Amazon. The case is 2:23-cv-06647, Planet Green Cartridges, Inc., a California corporation v. Amazon.com Inc., a Delaware corporation et al.
