Tyler Carroll parked and exited his work van to help the driver of a wrecked pickup truck. He was severely injured when another vehicle crashed into the truck. The driver of the pickup truck and the driver of the vehicle that caused the crash were underinsured and uninsured, respectively, so Carroll received the limits for both UIM and UM coverage from his employer's auto insurer. The company refused to pay the full policy limits, claiming Carroll was not occupying the insured auto at the time of injury.
