Walgreens filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against former employee Zarrina Khawaja on Aug. 14 in New Jersey Superior Court for Mercer County. The suit, brought by Portnoy Schneck, seeks to recoup a $50,000 sign-on bonus based on the plaintiff's alleged resignation prior to completion of a two-year commitment. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is MERL001556-23, Walgreen Co. v. Khawaja.
