Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, sued Octopus Data Tuesday in California Northern District Court over alleged data scraping activities. The complaint, brought by Susman Godfrey, accuses the defendant of selling tools and services for scraping data from social media accounts in violation of Meta's Terms and Policies and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Lawyers have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 5:22-cv-03921, Meta Platforms Inc., v. Octopus Data, Inc.
