Northwestern University, former baseball coach Jim Foster and other defendants were sued on Feb. 21 in Illinois Circuit Court for Cook County. The court case, brought by Esbrook P.C. on behalf of a former volunteer assistant coach, accuses the school of failing to address the sustained environment of toxicity, abuse and harassment at the hands of Foster. According to the complaint, the school protected Foster rather than its staff and student-athletes and mishandled its investigation into his misconduct. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2024L002016, Santiago v. Northwestern University.
