
The ousted chief executive of Philadelphia-based Republic First Bank sued Holland & Knight for allegedly charging excessive legal fees in exchange for "ineffective and unsatisfactory" legal services involving a clash for control with other board members. Vernon Hill, who served as Republic's CEO from 2019 until his ousting in 2022, alleged in a complaint Dec. 8 the Florida-based firm engaged in "gross overstaffing, top-heavy staffing, duplicative billing and excessive billing" over a 16-month period in matters relating to an attempt by board members to remove him.
