Online promotions company Groupon filed a trade secrets lawsuit Friday in Illinois Northern District Court against its former global head of advertising and ancillary revenue. The suit, filed by Sheppard Mullin, accuses Sung Shin of breaching confidentiality and non-compete agreements by accepting a similar role at rival Yelp and seeks an emergency order enjoining Shin from working for Yelp in any capacity for a period of 18 months. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:21-cv-06082, Groupon Inc. v. Shin.
