Google was sued Monday in California Northern District Court over its distribution of the Telegram messaging app through its Google Play Store. The court action, which alleges that Telegram serves as a communication channel for violent extremists, was filed by Lento Law Group on behalf of the Coalition for a Safer Web and founder Marc Ginsberg, a former U.S. ambassador to Morocco. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 5:21-cv-00570, Ginsberg et al v. Google Inc.
