A key dispute in the midst of litigation is whether Westport attorney Jeffrey S. Bagnell's defamation counterclaims can stand against Sig Sauer and its Chief Executive Officer, Ronald J. Cohen pertaining to a March 3, 2022, press release that coincided with the filing of its lawsuit. In July, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Alker Meyer for the District of Connecticut dismissed Bagnell's counterclaims and the attorney filed a motion asking the court to reconsider.
