About 50 lawsuits have been filed against Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk alleging their type 2 diabetes medications, such as Ozampic and Mounjaro, caused gastroparesis, or stomach paralysis. The medications, many of which are injected, have been heavily marketed in the past year in viral videos on social media and in catchy TV commercials, mostly because they help people lose weight. Lawyers, who met this week in Santa Barbara, California, anticipate 10,000 to 20,000 lawsuits in multidistrict litigation.
