Synopsys has agreed to acquire engineering software firm Ansys for $35 billion. The transaction, announced Jan. 16, is expected to close in the first half of 2025. Mountain View, California-based Synopsys was advised by a Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton team led by partners Chris Moore, Paul Shim and Benet O’Reilly. Ansys, which is based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, was represented by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and a Goodwin Procter team that included Stuart Cable, Lisa Haddad and James Ding. The Skadden team was led by partners Mike Ringler and Peter Jones.
