A chief bankruptcy judge in Texas has found that embattled former U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David Jones of Houston acted in bad faith for participating in a recent interview with Jackson Walker and lawyers, and sanctioned Jones to 7.5 hours of ethics-related continuing legal education approved by the State Bar of Texas. In a memorandum opinion on Friday, Chief Judge Eduardo Rodriguez of the Southern District of Texas also "narrowly found" that Jackson Walker and two of its counsel — Norton Rose Fulbright partner Jason Boland of Houston and Rusty Hardin of Russell Hardin & Associates of Houston — and Jones' counsel Benjamin Finestone, a partner in Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan in New York, did not act in bad faith and would not be sanctioned.
