New Suit - Contract

BrandR Group, an agency for college athletes, sued video game company Electronic Arts on June 16 in California Superior Court for San Mateo County. The suit arises from the planned 2024 release of 'EA Sports College Football,' a spiritual successor to the 'NCAA Football' series which EA discontinued in 2013 amid a wave of lawsuits over the use of student athletes' names, images and likenesses. According to the complaint, EA tortiously interfered with the plaintiff's contracts by avoiding negotiations with the plaintiff and instead offering universities a flat fee of $500 per athlete. The suit was filed by Katten Muchin Rosenman. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 23-CIV-02715, BrandR Group LLC v. Electronic Arts Inc.
