Google was sued on Jan. 30 in California Superior Court for Santa Clara County in relation to its navigation system. According to the complaint, Google was contacted by South African officials, the Cape Town government and tourism officials to stop directing Google Maps users through the Nyanga area because it was 'extremely dangerous.' Allegedly, gangs of robbers lie in wait in that area for tourists traveling in rental cars. The suit was initiated Dovel & Luner on behalf of a couple who were attacked while visiting Cape Town. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is Zoladz v. Google LLC.
