New Suit - Legal Malpractice

Loeb & Loeb and attorney Michael Helfant were slapped with a legal malpractice lawsuit on Feb. 8 in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County in connection with the negotiation of a deal to finance the production of 'Kung Fury 2,' a movie starring Michael Fassbender and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The lawsuit was filed by attorney Timothy D. McGonigle on behalf of Creasun Entertainment USA, which alleges that the defendant law firm created a conflict of interest by surreptitiously entering into an attorney-client relationship with producer Alex Lebovici after the plaintiff had already retained the firm for representation. The suit also accuses Helfant of refusing to assist the plaintiff with obtaining records according to suspicions of fraudulent accounting and millions of dollars being 'squandered' by production. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 24STCV03380 , Creasun Entertainment Usa, Inc. v. Helfant.
