The U.S. Senate confirmed a nominee to the federal district court bench Wednesday, with a second Florida confirmation expected later that afternoon. The Senate confirmed, by a 54-44 vote, U.S. Magistrate Judge Julie Sneed to the position of a federal district court judge for the Middle District of Florida. Meanwhile, U.S. Magistrate Judge Melissa Damian is expected to be elevated to the position of a federal district court judge for the Southern District of Florida in a matter of hours.
