The founder of an early digital photo sharing website sued Facebook and Instagram for patent infringement Tuesday in California Central District Court. The complaint, filed by McKool Smith on behalf of Angel Technologies Group, asserts four patents related to 'photo tagging,' the widely used tool that attaches the names and social media accounts of people that appear in digital photos. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:21-cv-08459, Angel Technologies Group LLC v. Facebook, Inc. et al.
