Three lawyers from Haddonfield’s Archer and its Trenton lobbying subsidiary have joined New Jersey Gov.-elect Phil Murphy’s transition team.

They join a growing number of lawyers who have been tapped by Murphy, a former Wall Street financier and Democrat, to assist him as he prepares to take over from Republican Gov. Chris Christie, whose term ends next month.

Most recently joining Murphy’s team is William Caruso, the managing director of Archer Public Affairs. From the law firm, Christopher Gibson, the longtime managing partner, and Lloyd Freeman, a litigation partner and chair of the diversity committee, joined last month.

All three will serve on the Law and Justice Committee, according to statements released by Archer.

None were available for comment Thursday.

Prior to joining Archer Public Affairs, Caruso served nearly five years as the executive director of the New Jersey Assembly Democratic Office in Trenton. Before that, he was chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews, D-Camden.
