Sills Cummis & Gross held its annual 2017 TurkeyFest Celebration on Nov. 16. Attorneys and staff across each of the three Sills Cummis & Gross offices in Newark, New York and Princeton gathered together over a festive Thanksgiving luncheon. In conjunction with the lunch, the firm’s Professional Relations Committee spearheaded its annual donation drive. The Sills Cummis & Gross New Jersey offices supported Saint John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, an organization that provides over 500 meals daily to the less fortunate. The Sills Cummis & Gross New York office supported New York Cares Coat Drive, an organization that aims to collect and distribute 125,000 coats to New Yorkers in need each year.

The Sills Cummis & Gross Professional Relations Committee is comprised of co-chairs David Cook and Diane Lavenda, and members Milvia Burns, Matthew Canini, Kaitlin Jenkins, Cecilia Lassiter, Vincent Lodato, Joseph Shumofsky and William Stuart.

Dennis Toft of Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi Inducted into American College of Environmental Lawyers

Dennis M. Toft, chair of the environmental law group at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi in West Orange, has been inducted into the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL). The ACOEL is a national association of legal professionals dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law, the administration of justice, and the development of environmental law at both the state and federal levels.

“It’s an honor to be named to the ACOEL—the premier national organization for environmental attorneys—and to participate in the important work it does to develop impactful environmental legislation that contributes to the betterment of our society,” said Toft. “The environmental practice at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi is one of the few practice groups in New Jersey with multiple members in the ACOEL, and the unique knowledge we are able to gain from the organization enables us to provide an unparalleled level of service to our clients.”

Toft is widely recognized as one of the state’s leading environmental lawyers. He counsels clients on all aspects of environmental law, including regulatory counseling, environmental due diligence, permitting, enforcement and environmental litigation, development/ redevelopment and environmental insurance. He regularly appears before the state’s Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, municipal land use boards, and state and federal courts.
