Now that Paul Fishman has left the post of U.S. attorney for New Jersey, lawyers say the next person picked for the job will need to have a combination of courtroom experience and political connections.

Geoffrey Berman, New Jersey co-managing shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in Florham Park, and John Lacey, a white-collar defense lawyer at Connell Foley in Newark, are said to be under consideration for the post. Others who have been mentioned as candidates include Christopher Porrino, the present state attorney general; Thomas Scrivo, former chief counsel to Gov. Chris Christie; and Rebecca Ricigliano, the first assistant attorney general.
