Burlington County Bar Donates Adoption Day Bears

The Burlington County Bar Foundation, with generous support from Timothy and Mary Ann O’Brien, recently donated teddy bears for Adoption Day 2016. Adoption Day is a collective national effort to raise awareness of the 100,000-plus children in foster care waiting to find their forever families. On National Adoption Day, courts and communities in the United States come together to finalize thousands of adoptions of children from foster care. Adoptions were finalized for 10 children at a ceremony recognizing National Adoption Day on Nov. 18, 2016, at the Burlington County Superior Court in Mount Holly. Superior Court Judges Mark P. Tarantino and Gerard H. Breland presided over the proceedings. The vicinage’s program was co-hosted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the Court Appointed Special Advocate program, and the Burlington County Office of the Surrogate. Each child whose adoption was finalized on Adoption Day received a teddy bear from the bar foundation as a memento of the very special occasion of being placed in a permanent, loving family. Following the proceedings, a luncheon for the children and their families was held at the Funplex, 3320 Rt. 38, Mount Laurel. Other agencies that have partnered with the Burlington Vicinage on the program are: Catholic Charities, Robin’s Nest Counseling, New Jersey Adoption Resource Clearing House, Foster and Adoptive Families Services, Bridges of Books Foundation and the Linus Project.
