Former Assistant Hunterdon County Prosecutor Bennett Barlyn, who claimed he was fired after complaining about the dismissal of a criminal case against allies of Gov. Chris Christie, has received a $1.5 million settlement in his whistleblower suit.

The settlement in Barlyn v. Dow was reached in an arbitration session in early June but only became official this week. The settlement puts an end to a 2012 suit claiming an indictment of then-Hunterdon County Sheriff Deborah Trout and two of her aides was abandoned to protect a prominent supporter of Christie.
