With Monsanto Co. facing a crop of suits about an alleged carcinogenic ingredient in its popular herbicide, Roundup, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has been asked to consolidate the cases.

The latest suit, filed in federal court in Camden on July 29, claims the company failed to warn consumers that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, is known to cause cancer. The plaintiff in the case, Linda Jeanne Ricci of Maple Shade, suffers from non-Hodgkins lymphoma and blames that condition on exposure to Roundup, which she began using in 1997 to control weeds.
