Brenda Vallecilla, a solo practitioner in South Plainfield, was installed as the Middlesex County Bar Foundation’s 25th president May 7 at The Portuguese Fisherman in South River. Brenda manages her own general practice in South Plainfield and counsels primarily in the areas of family law, real estate transactions, plaintiffs personal injury, and some criminal and immigration matters. She is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, where she received an American Jurisprudence Award for Oral Argument in Moot Court Competition. She clerked at the medical malpractice defense firm of George & Korin in Woodbury, and later became an associate of Tomar, Simonoff, Adourian, O’Brien, Graziano in Haddonfield, focusing primarily on plaintiffs personal injury work. Pursuing an interest in criminal law, she became an associate of Baker and Kahn in Voorhees. She is on the board of Central Jersey Legal Services Corporation, and is second vice-president of the Middlesex County Bar Association. She was awarded the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award by the Middlesex County Bar Association in 2010. She regularly volunteers as a pro bono attorney for various organizations. Other officers sworn in May 7 were: Paula Menar, president-elect, of Menar & Menar, New Brunswick; Edward Testino, vice president, a solo practitioner, Matawan; Robert Goodwin, treasurer, a solo practitioner, New Brunswick; and Guillermo Arango Jr., secretary, a solo practitioner, New Brunswick. The Bar also installed new trustees for 2016-18. They are: Daniel Brown (2018); Kim Connor (2018); Angela Pastor (2018); Elliot Solop (2016); Megha Thakkar (2018); and Eugene Wishnic (2018).
