A suit claiming Widener University School of Law overstated its post-graduate employment rates is reaching a critical juncture just as a broader legal attack on law schools’ marketing practices seems to be running out of gas.

The Widener suit was one of a crop filed nationwide in 2011 and 2012 accusing law schools of overstating their graduates’ success in finding work. New York lawyers David Anziska and Jesse Strauss, who filed the Widener suit, brought a total of 14 suits against law schools around the country that garnered heavy coverage in the mainstream media at a time when the job market for new lawyers was collapsing.
