Yony R. Angeles executed a note for $454,400 with First Equity Financial Corporation, secured by a mortgage to Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems Inc. (MERS), as nominee for First Equity. After Angeles defaulted on the installment payments, Deutsche filed a foreclosure complaint, two weeks prior to the June 12, 2008, assignment of the mortgage by MERS to it.
