Telepresence marks the next stage in an evolution after teleconferencing, videoconferencing and Web conferencing. While each technology progressively added voice, video and document interaction, telepresence aims to create an immersive meeting experience with high-definition video and high-fidelity audio, as well as advanced collaboration and presentation tools.
In a telepresence session, participants are displayed on large, often life-sized or larger-than-life screens. Voices, gestures and facial expressions are faithfully replicated in high-quality video and audio to remote locations thousands of miles away, all with the goal of supporting natural communication and interaction between attendees.
