N.J. Women Lawyers Install New Officers

The New Jersey Women Lawyers Association installed its new board of directors on July 12 at the Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange. The board members were sworn in by U.S. Magistrate Judge Lois Goodman, a former board member.

New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa, at right, was the guest speaker at the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey’s annual spring meeting and scholarship recognition event, held June 7 at the Matisse Restaurant in Belmar. TANJ also awarded scholarships sponsored by McCarter & English in Newark and Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis in Woodbridge.

Sills Cummis & Gross Awards Scholarship

Johnmack Cohen, a first-year student at Rutgers Law School– Newark, is selected as Sills Cummis & Gross’s 2012 Charles J. Walsh Scholar. He was chosen for his scholarship, leadership qualities and commitment to using the law to help others. The scholarship was established on behalf of family, friends and colleagues of the late Bergen County Superior Court judge, who worked at the firm before going on the bench.

Trust and Estate Attorneys Give Scholarships

The New Jersey chapter of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel awarded $1,000 scholarships to Nari Wang of Rutgers Law School-Newark, Sanyam Parikh of Seton Hall University School of Law and Amy Bennett, Jessica Demmerly and Iryna Kastsiuk of Rutgers Law School-Camden. The scholarships recognize outstanding academic achievement in the fields of estate planning, administration and tax law.
