A $10 million settlement has been reached between a home health care provider and the family of a young child who experienced severe injuries, including cerebral palsy, as a result of a ventilator that was unknowingly disconnected while he was under a nurse's supervision.

Bergen County Judge Gregg A. Padavano approved the settlement on Oct. 7 in favor of the parents, Danielle and Thomas Voyez, and their infant son, Killian. The suit, Voyez v. Preferred Home Health Care, named Preferred Home Health Care and Nursing Services, Stouffer’s Nursing & Staffing, and an individual nurse, Emely Jaquez, as defendants.
