The retired chief judge of the Appellate Division has been appointed to lead the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct, where he will succeed retired Supreme Court Justice Virginia A. Long as chair of the body responsible for investigating allegations of unethical conduct by judges, according to an announcement Wednesday by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Carmen Messano was appointed to helm the committee which investigates allegations of unethical judicial conduct. Messano’s appointment lasts for a three-year term, effective Sept. 1. After serving 25 years on the bench, including 10 years as chief judge of the Appellate Division, Messano retired in May 2023.
