Immunity for health care facilities under New Jersey’s Tort Claims Act does not apply to a suit over an inmate’s suicide at the Ocean County Jail, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled.
The decision, upholding an Appellate Division ruling in the case, means that the inmate’s widow can collect on a $1.55 million jury verdict awarded in 2018.
