In the first legal battle in the new talc bankruptcy, lawyers for thousands of cancer victims tried to persuade a judge on Tuesday not to halt lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson, some of which have trial dates.
Johnson & Johnson subsidiary LTL Management, which filed for bankruptcy on April 4, sought to extend the automatic stay to include affiliates, namely Johnson & Johnson, which faces more than 38,000 lawsuits alleging its talcum powder products caused ovarian cancer or mesothelioma.
