It’s March, so our attention has turned to brackets. No, not the NCAA’s “March Madness” brackets announced Sunday, March 12.

Rather, our focus is on the madness (and disappointment) we feel when we read law firm summaries of new New Jersey laws that rely on text that has been deleted in the final version of the bills. It is happening with increasing frequency, and we suspect it is due to competition by law firms to be first to their clients with instant analysis and, more important, newer lawyers who haven’t been trained in the art of the legislative process. The Legislature shares some of the blame as well.
