In a recent editorial, we offered the opinion that “the Family Part needs and deserves to have a full complement of judges who have the expertise and desire to be there.” (“Family Court Issues Must be Addressed,” 228 N.J.L.J. 1134 (May 9, 2022)). It is beyond debate that the cases heard in the Family Part often are fraught with emotion and have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of the parties to a marriage and their children, other juveniles and everyone in a family-type relationship.

For the foregoing reasons, we are particularly pleased to congratulate and pay tribute to Judge David B. Katz, the presiding judge of the Family Division in the Essex vicinage of our state. In the years since his appointment to the Superior Court in 2008 and his reappointment in 2015, Judge Katz has distinguished himself in the General Equity Part and as a member of the Family Part.
